Chances were at a premium at the Hawthorns as West Bromich Albion and Ipswich Town played out a 0-0 draw.
The first half showed glimpses of the talent on show in both teams with Kyle Edwards and Andre Dozzell proving very influential figures.
It was a very cagey opening and the eighth minute saw the first chance fall to Ipswich after midfielder Andre Dozzell provided a bit of magic after poking the ball through a West Brom defender’s legs only for Jack Rose to come out and thwart him.
Dozzell again had the chance to work Rose from a free kick but it sailed high into the stands.
Despite a spell from the Tractor Boys, Albion enjoyed a strong finish to the half with Jonathan Leko and Kyle Edwards providing the attacking impetus for their team.
Leko however was involved in some controversy in the closing stages when he squared up to Ipswich midfielder Luke Hyam after an incident off the ball.
The half ended on a late challenge by James Blanchfield on Sam Field which saw Ipswich pick up the first card of the game.
Ipswich started the second half in the same manner as the first and unsurprisingly Dozzell registered the first effort on goal but his curling effort failed to test Rose after 55 minutes.
With twenty minutes to go and West Brom failing to create any chances, Ipswich looked most likely to score and Shane McLoughlin provided Albion’s defence with a scare when he entered the box but his cutback evaded his everyone.
West Brom did threaten a couple of time with Chay Scrivens forcing Crowe into a save and Jonathan Leko fizzing a cross come shot against the side netting.
Andre Wright had the last chance of the game but his effort was well held by Crowe which means West Brom’s under 23’s are without a win in six.
